Instructor Spotlight – Craig Denholm

WorkSafe would like to welcome newly qualified Fire Safety instructor Craig, a Health and Safety Consultant from Kirkby In Ashfield. He has been working as a trainer in the construction and rail sector for the last 15 years and would like to diversify his services into a wider field.

Since the age of 8 Craig has had a fond interest in boxing, he spent 5 years training with an amateur club, although unfortunately, he never stepped into the ring. Around 6 years ago, after becoming a little bored with attending his conventional gym, Craig re-sparked his interest and attended his local boxing club, the Empire ABC, Skegby, Nottinghamshire. He enjoyed it so much and the Head Coach invited Craig to be the Master of the Ceremonies at their annual show! Apparently he had a big mouth!  Craig begrudgingly went along, where he was asked by another club to MC at their show too.  This has since snowballed and Craig now hosts around 50 shows a year for East Midlands boxing clubs. Craig’s ambition is to become a Professional MC for the British Board of Boxing Control. He has also been asked to host charity events raising money for great causes such as Glenfield hospital, Leicester and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Craig has been able to meet some great names in boxing such as John Fury (Tyson’s dad), Ekow Essuman, English Welterweight BBBoc Title Holder, Former IBO world Champion Jawaid Khaliq, as well as some greats from the past including Herbie Hyde, Junior Witter and former British and Commonwealth Champion Esham Pickering.

We wish Craig all the success for fulfilling his ambitions!
