“The team, the admin functions and kit ordering services are wonderful and make everything simple for our in-house team of first aid trainers”
Gareth , Lead Trainer, United Utilities
United Utilities needed a practical, reliable and cost-effective solution to ensure 900 colleagues across their two sites in the North West received essential emergency first aid at work training. Safety is paramount and with teams working different shift patterns out on-site, a flexible solution was needed to ensure everyone received vital training and stayed up to speed with the latest regulations.
WorkSafe has trained six of United Utilities’ colleagues to be fully-qualified first aid instructors so they can deliver first aid training across their North West sites.
Using trainers based within the business ensures courses can be tailored to suit their teams’ shift patterns and be delivered by colleagues who already know the needs of the business.
WorkSafe’s electronic certificates are sent out to the company so qualified colleagues can be easily tracked and there is a record of when qualifications will expire.
This flexible training approach reduces time out of the workplace and is a cost-effective way of meeting United Utilities’ health and safety requirements.
United Utilities trained instructors have now gone on to successfully train their 900 team members.
Lead trainer Gareth said: “WorkSafe are so easy to deal with. The team, the admin functions and kit ordering services are wonderful and make everything simple for our in-house team of first aid trainers. The courses we deliver are interactive, engaging and easy to deliver.”
“The support provided by WorkSafe for our business is second to none.”
David Eccles, Trainer, Ansa Environmental Services
Ansa Environmental Services in Middlewich, Cheshire specialises in sustainable and creative environmental services. The Cheshire company already had an experienced trainer among their team who they wanted to use to deliver first aid courses on-site.
WorkSafe trained Ansa’s in-house trainer to teach First Aid at Work to colleagues. This flexible training solution is ideal for the business as they can organise course delivery to suit shift patterns. All course materials are ordered from WorkSafe and our secure online portal records details of the successful candidates and generates their certificates. WorkSafe also ensure that standards expected by the HSE are in place, including an annual verification visit to ensure Ansa’s in-house instructor is following the correct guidelines.
Ansa are confident that their staff can be taught to the appropriate level, with lead trainer David grateful of the support and contact provided by WorkSafe throughout the year: “I would recommend WorkSafe to any individual trainer or business looking for a suitable solution to their training needs. The support provided is second to none.”
“As a self-employed trainer, I feel part of the family!”
Malcolm Sweetlove wanted to use his career in teaching and his passion for first aid to set up a new venture. He was keen to become an instructor but needed a company who could keep him up to speed with the latest HSE guidance and provide first class support.
Malcolm trained to be a WorkSafe instructor through our training programmes and is now a self-employed first aid training provider, based in Bolton. He teaches the full suite of WorkSafe first aid courses, using WorkSafe materials and support from the team to stay up to date with the latest guidance.
Malcolm also teaches clinical skills at a medical school and basic life support at a hospital and two hospices. To ensure the smooth delivery of courses in such a busy schedule, Malcolm relies on WorkSafe’s prompt delivery of training materials and fast turnaround of certificates.
“It’s great to have the support of the WorkSafe office team. As a self-employed trainer I feel part of the family.”
