NEW WorkSafe Blended FAW Course
Launch of New Blended FAW Course
As we look at ways to offer socially distanced first aid training, the new WorkSafe blended FAW course offers an opportunity to reduce contact hours in the classroom. The blended option will combine 6 hours of online theory with 12 hours of face to face learning in the classroom.
Learners will work their way through the online theory session then apply their knowledge in the classroom by completing the practical skills elements and formal end of course assessment.
The syllabus for the course meets the requirements of The Health and Safety Executive (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Only one third of the first aid at work course can be delivered online, meaning the majority of the 18 hour course is led by the instructor in the classroom. Using the blended course option allows you to combine learners with FAW Re-qualification candidates, therefore offering flexible solutions to companies with varying needs.
Delivering and Assessing the Blended Course
WorkSafe instructors can purchase a First Aid at Work Blended student Pack from our online shop. This includes the student reference manual and evaluation sheet for the classroom session and a unique log to our e-learning portal.
Once registered, learners will be sent log in details and can work through the course at their own pace before the practical classroom sessions.
The formal assessment process for the WorkSafe Blended First Aid at Work programme requires:
- The learner to pass the online assessment at the end of the e-learning course before progression to the classroom session. An electronic certificate will be issued via the online platform to confirm successful completion.
- Documented ongoing assessment of performance by direct observation of key skills in the classroom
- Summative knowledge assessment in written format completed under assessment conditions in the classroom
The instructor must observe key skill practice in the classroom to assess competence of students to undertake the role of a workplace first aider.
