The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is perfect for those who want to start teaching in the workplace or in the wider Education and Skills sector in their own subject area.

The course is designed for adult learners who wish to start teaching in the post 16 education sector whether as an in-house trainer or freelance instructor.

We work with learners from a variety of industries such as: hair and beauty, health & safety, HR and forklift truck training.

The course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge to create inclusive and effective lesson plans and confidence to teach others in your area of expertise.

Our WorkSafe Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) is awarded by SFJ Awards.

Previously, this qualification was known as PTLLS.

All courses are delivered in our dedicated training room at our head office in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV11 4NF.

Course Content

Level 3 Award in Education and Training course content is delivered in three days within the classroom with an emphasis on practical application. The course consists of three units that total 12 credits:

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.
  • Understanding assessment in education and training.

The Level 3 Award has approximately 48 hours of study time and requires completion of a pre-course assignment prior to attendance. You will be fully supported throughout your learning with one of our experienced and friendly course tutors who will ensure you are able to complete your award.

Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used:

  • Assignment – one short pre-course assignment which your tutor will provide feedback on.

  • Micro-teach – prepare and deliver a short, 20 minute teaching session on a subject of your choice. This will be delivered during the course and you will receive feedback from your instructor and other students on the course.

  • Assessment Paper- an open book exercise on the final day of the course.

Entry Requirements

This award is available to learners aged 19 and over who:

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 or equivalent qualification in literacy and numeracy, or working towards one.

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in the subject they want to teach.

This nationally recognised Level 3 Award in Education and Training is made up of three units with a total of 12 RQF credits and will:

  • Develop your delivery skills
  • Enable effective planning and evaluation of training sessions
  • Provide practical assessment methods
  • Promote inclusive learning

The course includes an initial pre-course assignment with tutor support and three days of face-to-face training where you will be required to deliver an observed micro-teach on a subject of your choice.

  • WorkSafe are approved by SFJ Awards to deliver the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
  • We receive regular external quality control visits and have achieved Direct Claim Status.

This course is for anyone post 16 years of age but is most suited to adults who:

  • are starting out in a teaching role
  • want a short qualification achieved in 3 days
  • have the potential to study at Level 3
  • want a qualification without a minimum teaching practice requirement
