Wishing you a very Merry Christmas as we support the Stroke Association

The Stroke Association is a charity close to our hearts and this year, instead of sending Christmas cards to all of the WorkSafe family, we will be making a donation to this worthwhile charity.

In the UK a stroke strikes every 5 minutes* meaning that many of us will have been affected or will know someone who has. The charity offers a wealth of support to those re-building their lives after a stroke, keeping up to date with the latest medical evidence and working alongside families to continually improve treatments.

Would you know what to do if you noticed someone suffering with a stroke?

Act FAST!

  • Facial Weakness – Can they smile? Has their mouth or eye drooped?
  • Arm Weakness – Can they raise both arms?
  • Speech Problems – Can they speak clearly and understand what you are saying?
  • Time to call 999/112 – if they fail any of the above tests.

Other Symptoms

  • Sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, legs, hands or feet.
  • Difficulty speaking in clear sentences.
  • Sudden blurred vision or loss of sight in one or both eyes.
  • Sudden memory loss, confusion, dizziness or a sudden fall
  • Severe, sudden headache.

A stroke is a medical emergency and requires urgent attention, so if in any doubt call 999/112 straight away. The faster the person receives advanced medical care, the less damage is likely to happen. Immediate treatment can help to minimise long term effects.

Our donation will help the Stroke Association to continue their pioneering research and specialist support services which include their helpline, support groups and testing new treatments.

At this time of year when we send Christmas and new year best wishes to our WorkSafe family of instructors we felt that our support for this charity would help to make a difference.
