What is the Level 3 AET?

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training (formerly known as PTLLS) is an introductory teaching qualification regulated by Ofqual.

It is designed for individuals who want to:

  • Teach in further education
  • Deliver workplace training
  • Become a freelance trainer
  • Deliver regulated qualifications
  • Progress towards assessor or IQA qualifications

All courses are delivered in our dedicated training room at our head office in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV11 4NF.

Course Content

Level 3 Award in Education and Training course content is delivered in three days within the classroom with an emphasis on practical application. The course consists of three units that total 12 credits:

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.
  • Understanding assessment in education and training.

The Level 3 Award has approximately 48 hours of study time and requires completion of a pre-course assignment prior to attendance. You will be fully supported throughout your learning with one of our experienced and friendly course tutors who will ensure you are able to complete your award.

Assessment

A variety of assessment methods are used:

  • Assignment – one short pre-course assignment which your tutor will provide feedback on.

  • Micro-teach – prepare and deliver a short, 20 minute teaching session on a subject of your choice. This will be delivered during the course and you will receive feedback from your instructor and other students on the course.

  • Assessment Paper- an open book exercise on the final day of the course.

Entry Requirements

This award is available to learners aged 19 and over who:

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 2 or equivalent qualification in literacy and numeracy, or working towards one.

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 3 or equivalent qualification in the subject they want to teach.

This nationally recognised Level 3 Award in Education and Training is made up of three units with a total of 12 RQF credits and will:

  • Develop your delivery skills
  • Enable effective planning and evaluation of training sessions
  • Provide practical assessment methods
  • Promote inclusive learning

The course includes an initial pre-course assignment with tutor support and three days of face-to-face training where you will be required to deliver an observed micro-teach on a subject of your choice.

  • WorkSafe are approved by SFJ Awards to deliver the Level 3 Award in Education and Training.
  • We receive regular external quality control visits and have achieved Direct Claim Status.

This course is for anyone post 16 years of age but is most suited to adults who:

  • are starting out in a teaching role
  • want a short qualification achieved in 3 days
  • have the potential to study at Level 3
  • want a qualification without a minimum teaching practice requirement

We do not deliver this course as an online option as we value our 100% candidate success rate.

The support before and during attendance on this classroom based course will ensure you are able to achieve the qualification in the minimum time frame with the confidence of being fully supported in your learning journey.

We are able to deliver this course at your own training premise or within your organisation or company subject to a minimum of 6 learners.
